The Higgs government has introduced legislation to change how the Energy and Utilities Board sets maximum fuel prices.
The move would bring the province closer to how prices are regulated in Nova Scotia, which has more flexibility when it comes to fuel prices.
Meanwhile, the price of regular self-serve gasoline dropped by around nine cents a litre overnight to a new max of $1.80.7.
Diesel and Heating Oil are unchanged.
The energy and utilities board will make its regular weekly price adjustment tonight.
