Mayor Adam Lordon said he never intended to misrepresent the position of local MLAs when he said said he was encouraged by the support demonstrated for the proposed multiplex during a recent meeting.
Lordon had made the statement in a recent article in the Miramichi Leader.
That prompted Southwest Miramichi-Bay du Vin MLA Mike Dawson to fire off a scathing letter to the mayor, saying he has concerns about the project and does not support it.
Lordon told the Leader his intention was to express that the meeting in question felt positive.

The Higgs government has introduced a bill that would allow Medicare to pay for some simple surgeries outside of hospitals.
The bill would lead to a two-year pilot project in Bathurst that would move cataract surgeries to a local clinic.
The hope is that would free up at least two days of surgical times at the local hospital.
Health Minister Bruce Fitch said he expects to widen the lists of surgeries as time goes on.
